What you should know
The best time to visit Xiamen is during China’s spring and autumn seasons. Spring (March to May) is a great time to visit Xiamen, when the city is blooming, the temperature is low, and there’s little chance of rain. Autumn (September to November) is also a golden time to visit Xiamen, when you can also enjoy cooler temperatures for exploring the city.
The official language in Xiamen is Standard Mandarin Chinese. English isn’t widely spoken in the city, so pack along a good Mandarin phrasebook to help you on your trip.
