What to see
Islamabad offers plenty to see and do while in the city. Here’s a cross-section of the interesting places to see in the city that will make your trip to Islamabad worthwhile.
Lok Virsa Museum
This is a gem of a museum of Pakistani culture. It occupies four blocks and has different halls displaying architecture, art, costumes, music, textiles, arts and crafts and jewelry.
The view from above will show that this magnificent building is shaped like a star at its center enclosed by a crescent moon formed by the striking petals. This is a representation of the four provinces and the three territories of Pakistan. A good view of the city could be seen from here.
The late King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia financed the creation of this unusual mosque; unusual because it does not have a dome. It’s a place of worship and open to the public only after prayer times so do dress conservatively. It’s a sight to see day or night, located at the foot of Margalla Hills.
