Puerto Princesa, an independent city of Palawan province, is a top tourist destination in the Philippines. It boasts of two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Tubbataha Reef and the Subterranean River National Park, which is the longest underground river in the world and was recently named as one of 7 New Wonders of Nature.
Palawan (Puerto Princesa) Airport & Airlines
Five airlines – PAL Express, Cebu Pacific Air, AirAsia Zest, SEAIR, and Tigerair Philippines all provide direct flights to Palawan (Puerto Princesa) from Manila. There are about 11 to 13 flights daily going to the city. All flights to Puerto Princesa land at the Puerto Princesa International Airport. It is a misnomer since there are no international flights landing or taking off from this airport. Nevertheless, the one-story glass and steel terminal building is bustling with the daily influx of passengers.
Flights to Palawan (Puerto Princesa)
There is one morning flight and two afternoon flights daily from Manila to Puerto Princesa via PAL Express. Cebu Pacific has three flights daily to the city, and one early evening flight on Tuesdays and Sundays. AirAsia Zest offers one early morning flight to the city on Saturdays and has three scheduled flights daily. Tigerair Philippines flies to Puerto Princesa with one scheduled flight daily on a code share agreement with SEAIR.
Need to Know
Only economy class seats are sold for this route in all airlines, all of which allow free hand-carried bags no heavier than 7kg. PAL Express, one of the airlines with the most frequent flights, allows 10kg of free baggage allowance for check-in. A fee is charged for every kilo in excess of this.
For Cebu Pacific, passengers can pre-purchase baggage allowance for their check-in bags, from 15 kilos up to 45 kilos, when purchasing their tickets.
Budget flights no longer serve free snacks and drinks on their domestic routes. Instead they carry a variety of snacks and drinks for sale to passengers in need of some refreshments.
