Things to do in Seoul
South Korea’s Seoul is a bustling town that blends tradition and technology. You’ll see shopping markets on one side and old city gates in another. It’s home to Buddhist temples, palaces, and nature trails, but also skyscrapers, exciting nightclubs, and many Korean pop stars like Psy. With so many to see and do, lots of travellers fly to Seoul.
Starting with tradition, ride the subway and make your way to the iconic Gyeongbokgung. Being the biggest and most beautiful palace in Seoul, you’ll find many spots for photo ops. Visit all five palaces to learn more about Korean history, and to see more historic sites. And you should bring an extra battery or a power bank.
For a mix of the old and new, hop on a bus to see the popular south and east city gates - Namdaemun and Dongdaemun. They’re also close to two of Korea’s largest and most popular markets. Just stroll from either gate to reach Namdaemun or Dongdaemun Market and shop! We recommend Dongdaemun for first-time travellers since it’s easier to reach and shops here prefer selling to tourists. Need more convincing? Review both markets with Saranghae Korea.
If you’re in Seoul, you have to spend a day in Gangnam. There’s the Seoul Arts Centre for culture seekers, Lotte World for theme parks fans, and COEX Mall for shopaholics. Want to party Gangnam style? Experience the ultimate Korean nightlife with The Hungry Partier’s list of the best clubs and rage until sunrise!
Add a few more stops to your trip. Get a bird’s eye view of the city at N Seoul Tower, be one with nature at Bukhansan National Park, and eat your fill of Korean food. You have literally hundreds reasons to fly to Seoul.
