Things to do in London
Under the British Empire, London became the most powerful and influential city in history during the 19th and 20th century.
Today, London is still first-rate as an international centre of education, music, culture, and fashion. It’s home to famous landmarks and is Europe’s biggest draw for visitors. So if you plan to travel the world, London should be on your list.
Travellers flock to the city because there's just so much to explore. Go sightseeing on a double-decker bus, cruise down the River Thames, hail a black cab to Sherlock Holmes’ address on Baker Street, or take to the skies on the London Eye and see what else the city has for you.
You can’t miss London landmarks like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Trafalgar Square. Make time fly in the British Museum and Tate Modern. But the city also has other popular spots, so leave room for more photos!
If you love sports, ride the tube and drop by Wembley Stadium or Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Itching to lose some Pounds? Spend your afternoon strolling through Regent Street, Bond Street, Covent Garden, or Oxford Street and feel posh.
Start or end your evening on a high note, and indulge in fine dining restaurants from celebrity chefs like Heston Blumethal or Gordon Ramsay. You can also grab a pint in a trendy pub, dance the night away in clubs, or catch a play at the West End Theatre.
If you fancy festivals, London has plenty! Be part of their music scene at the London Music Festival or the Hampton Court Palace Festival. There’s also the London Literature Festival for bookworms, London Pride Festival for our LGBT community, and New Year’s Day Parade for a spectacular street event.
What you should know
If you want to see the city’s parks and gardens in bloom, visit London during spring and summer, when you will hopefully enjoy the milder weather with less rain, but take the umbrella just in case.
If you are looking for some cooler weather and maybe even some snow, book your flights for travel between September - March. Hotels also tend to be cheaper during November and from January to March.
