Things to do in Los Angeles
The core of Los Angeles is a combination of grand structures, museums, and top tourist destinations. The name “City of Angels” was given to Los Angeles when it was under Spanish rule, but nowadays, the name captures LA’s image of being home to Hollywood’s finest.
With so many things to see and do in Los Angeles, you’re going to come back again and again. But where should you start?
Begin your LA tour and soak up the city’s art and architecture scenes at the Getty Museum, The Oviatt Building, Union Station, and the innovative Walt Disney Concert Hall. Continue chasing culture and spend your afternoon walking around the Broadway Theatre District to see iconic movie palaces, plus the Gallery Row District and Wilshire’s Miracle Mile has even more artistic displays for you to see.
Be dazzled by the stars above and visit Griffith Observatory, which they have aptly named “the city’s gateway to the cosmos”. But if the stars you’re looking for are the celebrities, go for a House of the Stars Tour around LA. Stop by Beverly Hills and Rodeo drive while you’re at it. You don’t need to spend your dough in the shops, but you’ll have plenty of photos for social media. You might even spot a few famous people!
Do you like popular movies? Relive their magic by going to Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood. Other tourist favourites you can’t miss are Mann’s Chinese Theatre, the Walk of Fame, and The Hollywood Sign. There’s also Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach for some fun in the sun. And if you’re getting hungry right about now, head straight to Grand Central Market.
What you should know
Los Angeles enjoys the sunny California weather, which makes it a year-round destination for you. But the best times to visit are from March to May (spring) and September to November (autumn), when there are fewer crowds. You shouldn’t rule out a winter visit too, because it’s when airfare and hotel rates are cheaper. Just make sure you bring an umbrella.
